About Bremelanotide
- What it is
- Bremelanotide is a synthetic peptide that activates melanocortin receptors, chiefly the MC4 subtype, in the central nervous system. It is FDA approved under the brand Vyleesi to treat acquired, generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder in premenopausal women. Its effect is thought to act through central melanocortin pathways rather than on blood vessels. It has also been studied for sexual dysfunction in men.
